Maria is a Senior Associate in the Corporate & Commercial team with a dual specialism in commercial work and corporate restructuring. 

Maria advises clients on all aspects of their commercial legal relationships with third parties advising in respect of customer and supply agreements, outsourcing, commercial procurement, joint ventures and a range of regulatory and compliance matters. 

Maria also has particular expertise in corporate restructuring, acting for companies and insolvency practitioners and advising clients on their duties as directors, insolvency procedures and restructuring options. Maria also provides advice to companies and lenders on their security and banking documents. 

Maria is experienced at working with in-house legal teams and business development and finance teams. Maria completed a ten month secondment with Orange, working in their Group Fraud and Revenue Assurance Team, providing support in respect of anti-corruption programmes. Maria also completed a four month secondment with Dragon LNG, working with their commercial team advising on commercial procurement and commercial supply contracts.

Maria is a qualified trainer and provides training to clients on contract management, data protection, anti-money laundering, directors’ duties and effective management of legal risk. 

Maria is a Trustee of Age Cymru, the national charity for older people in Wales and a member of Glas Cymru.

Able to provide a fully integrated service to a wide variety of stakeholders including debtors, creditors and IPs, by virtue of a strong litigation offering (which is able to leverage the firm's innovative litigation fund) and a debt recovery facility by dint of the firm's "Capital Collect" debt service,  Capital Law Limited  has broad coverage across the panoply of contentious and non-contentious mandates and provides a 'sophisticated understanding of the insolvency and restructuring market'. Praised for his 'very practical and down-to-earth approach to litigation', Philip Jones  is regularly involved in contentious insolvency matters including fraud cases and directors’ duties claims; Jones recently advised the liquidator of London Welsh Rugby Football, work which included advice on several asset disposals. Senior associate Maria Coggins regularly advises IPs and corporates on insolvency and restructuring matters, while associate Guto Llewelyn leads on the debt recovery front.
