He effectively handles the most complex and largest cross-border energy and, in particular, energy-from-waste projects in markets such as Germany, United Kingdom, Brazil and Middle East.

Hogan Lovells International LLP focuses on national and international financing matters concerning energy generation plants, most notably in the renewable energy, energy-from-waste and conventional energy sectors, alongside infrastructure-related financing work and acts for manufacturing companies, banks and investors. Carla Luh, who made partner in January 2018, assisted Northland Power with the acquisition and the financing of offshore wind farm Deutsche Bucht totalling €1.3bn, advised NRW.Bank on refinancing the €315m offshore wind farm Trianel Wind Farm Borkum, and acted for DekaBank on refinancing Swiss PPP project Zeughausareal Burgdorf, which included the construction and operation of a public administration centre, a road inspection agency and a prison. Hamburg-based Christian Knütel and Frankfurt-based Tobias Faber are also key members of the team.

The PPP team at Hogan Lovells International LLP is regularly involved in cross-border projects. In Frankfurt, Tobias Faber advised an international consortium before the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) on the tender for the Kabd Municipal Solid Waste Project. In Hamburg, Christian Knütel advises on infrastructure and energy-related matters. Carla Luh was promoted to the partnership in January 2018.

With a specialism in infrastructure and plant engineering work, Hogan Lovells International LLP routinely acts for international clients; Tobias Faber is acting for a consortium consisting of strategic investors and other financial investors in proceedings with the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects concerning the development of a water treatment plant. Christian Knütel regularly advises Merkur Offshore Wind and Northland Power on construction law matters pertaining to the development of an offshore wind farm, and assisted an utility company with contractual issues, which arose from the construction of a gas and steam power plant. Ulrich Helm heads the team.
