The 'extremely clever and pragmatic' intellectual property team at Linklaters LLP offer 'very good value' across contentious, non-contentious and transactional IP advice. The team was instructed by Schneider Electric to advise of intellectual property aspects of the company's reverse takeover of AVEVA Group plc. This included transitional trade mark licences to allow the incorporation of Schneider’s software business into AVEVA’s group, in addition to arranging cross-licensing agreements to allow Schneider’s retained business and the divested software business to continue use of certain shared rights. The also has significant patent litigation experience and, with recently promoted partner Yohan Liyanage taking the lead, a team is representing Sanofi group and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc in co-ordination of a global patent dispute regarding medical treatments that reduce cardiovascular disease against Amgen. The group is also defending this client in a patent claim, also against Amgen, relating to cholesterol-lowering therapies. In another contentious matter, the department is acting for acting for Merck & Co in defending a high-profile claim for trade mark infringement and breach of a 1970 contract by Merck.  Ian Karet heads up the team which also includes the 'intellectually rigorous' Nemone Franks and Nigel Jones . William Hill, Just Eat Plc and Unilever are all clients.

Zarraga heads the corporate team and other key members include James Inglis and Matthew Bland. Didizian works at the helm of the TMT team with other notable names such as Ian Karet, Nigel Jones and Yohan Liyanage. Liyanage defended Regeneron and Sanofi in an appeal regarding the sale of the cholesterol drug Praluent due to patent infringement. Karet is acting for Merck & Co in its trade mark dispute with Merck KGaA regarding the Merck name. Key members of the competition team include Nicole Kar and Sir Christopher Bellamy.
