Andy leads the firm’s Global Real Estate practice. He has extensive experience in the acquisition, financing, development, letting and disposal of all types of commercial real estate both in the UK and Continental Europe as well as being well versed in the structures typically used to own, develop and finance real estate.

Work highlights

Listed as a Leading Individual for Real Estate in Legal 500, Andy has led on many major real estate transactions. Highlights include advising:

Development transactions:

  • Lendlease on its joint venture with Starwood Capital to acquire the £3.5bn Silvertown Quays, London urban renewal project; and on the £2bn ongoing redevelopment of Elephant & Castle, London, comprising 300,000 sqm of new build and mixed use development
  • Abu Dhabi Financial Group (ADFG) on several projects, including its landmark £370m acquisition and redevelopment of New Scotland Yard, London

Investment deals:

  • a consortium member on its investment in a €6.4 billion global portfolio of approximately 900 hotels
  • CBRE Global Investors’ Pan-European Core Fund on several investments as it expands across Europe
  • Triuva on several investments across central London and the South East of England
  • a Chinese investor on the £120m+ acquisition of Kleinwort Benson’s Mayfair HQ


  • the owner of the Aldwych Quarter, London (comprising four buildings, including the former HQ of the BBC World Service) on multiple lettings, including the landmark letting of the site to King’s College London as a new campus HQ
  • JPMorgan Chase as landlord on the letting of 125 London Wall, London to law firm Nabarro for its HQ, including a significant refurbishment project

Sale and leasebacks:

  • several clients on sale and leaseback transactions (including leasehold liability transfers and virtual assignments), including a major financial institution on a large multi-jurisdictional structured sale and leaseback

Bruce and Simon Price advised the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund on its role in the concerted purchase of a stake in Accor’s €4.4bn hotel property business. Price has particular experience in the hotel and leisure sector and assisted Mandarin Oriental Hotels with the management agreements of a new boutique hotel and branded residences in West London. Further, the group assisted a multinational joint venture with its acquisition of a portfolio of large retail property assets spread across three European jurisdictions. In the development space, the team is advising Lendlease on the £2bn Elephant and Castle regeneration project. Additionally, Martin Elliott is acting for the Barratt Group in relation to a mixed-use development in Hounslow comprising over 500 new homes and an extensive leisure and retail complex. Patrick Plant advised Deutsche Bank on the pre-let of its new London HQ, and has acted for a global fintech company on the development of its European HQ. Tom Watkins exhibits ‘excellent business acumen’ and managing associate Siobhan Burton is ‘whip-smart’ and ‘knows how to manage a large team’. Richardson Capital and Triuva are among the department’s key clients.
