Position

Partner specialising in commercial litigation Gordon undertakes a wide range of work involving commercial disputes. His work ranges from commercial contracts and property-related claims, to shareholder/partnership disputes and claims against professionals. As well as a varied mix of commercial disputes, over the last few years Gordon has become increasingly involved in claims against banks, particularly over mis-sold interest rate hedging products. He has developed a specialism in this field acting for individuals and small businesses against major UK and Irish banks.

Gordon Deane, who is dual-qualified in English and Scottish law, is experienced in a wide variety of contentious matters, including shareholders' disputes and contractual disputes, as well as professional negligence claims. Deane has developed a particular specialism in claims against banks over allegedly mis-sold interest rate hedging products. David Flint's workload includes cases involving personal and business debts, insolvency-related matters and partnership disputes. David McIntosh, who is 'exceptionally well-organised and commercial in his outlook', demonstrates 'judgment and experience to filter out irrelevant material'. Chairman Elaine Motion leads the team, which also includes Fiona Muirs and David Short.

The firm predominantly represents claimants in matters pertaining to the administration of trusts, executries and contentious disputes arising out of litigation, in addition to property-related matters. David Flint leads the team, which includes Gordon Deane and Elaine Motion , both of whom are noted for possessing extensive experience in the area of professional negligence. The group currently represented a US citizen in relation to a potential claim against their accountants for providing wrong advice regarding tax returns for a period of 13 years. Iain Nicol is another key contact.
