Accredited as a specialist in family law by the Law Society of Scotland. Scottish organiser of annual 4 Jurisdictions Conference.

Board member, Child Law Centre 1996-99; chair, Family Law Association 1999-01; treasurer, Family Law Association 2001-03; family law committee of the Law Society of Scotland 2002 to date; founding member and past treasurer Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group and is presently Treasurer of FLAGS (Family Law Arbitrary Group Scotland).
