Melinka acts on behalf a number of the firm’s regulatory clients, including the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and the General Dental Council (GDC). Melinka is responsible for overseeing the investigation of fitness to practise complaints and routinely appears on the most complex and high profile cases on behalf of the leading national regulators. She has defended individuals who have been investigated for misconduct by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). She also sits as a clerk to the Professional Conduct Committee of the Architects Registration Board (ARB). Melinka leads the team responsible for criminal regulatory and private prosecutions at Kingsley Napley. She acts for the Security Industry Authority (SIA) in respect of their criminal investigations into the unlawful actions of security guards, security companies and their employees. She provides training to SIA investigators on the lawful use of their investigation and prosecutorial powers and responsibilities. Melinka acts for both the corporate bodies and individuals that operate in this leisure and hospitality sector. She has vast experience defending regulatory prosecutions instigated by local authorities on matters involving: trading standards, underage sales, noise nuisance, health and safety, food safety and breach of licence conditions.
