Clinical negligence and personal injury.

Position

Ross is recognised as having ‘vast experience’ in the field of clinical negligence, and in representing families at inquests where the death is related to a medical accident/clinical error. He has specialised in this area of law since qualifying as a solicitor and joining Kingsley Napley in 1999. Ross’ practice covers the full spectrum of clinical negligence work, whether the clinical mistake/error occurs in the NHS setting, the private sector of as a result of a GP error. His broad range of case experience encompasses the following types of work/injuries: brain injury claims on behalf of children and adults, including cerebral palsy claims and acquired hypoxic brain injury claims; spinal injury claims such as failure to diagnose spinal fractures and cauda equine syndrome; failure to diagnose claims (eg failure to diagnose meningitis in young children resulting in brain injury); fatal accident claims for loss of dependency arising out of the death of a loved one where the death occurs in a clinical setting (eg failure to diagnose and treat conditions such as: coronary heart disease; pulmonary embolism; aortic dissection; and claims involving the suicide of patients sectioned under the Mental Health Act); bowel injury claims (eg bowel perforations and/or failure to diagnose cancer claims); claims involving Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT); urological injury claims resulting from gynaecological procedures (eg incontinence, vesico-vaginal fistula, bladder injury); drug prescription errors; and claims against GPs for failing to appropriately treat patients. Ross also has experience in the field of Public Law Healthcare related matters. He is currently part of the team representing AvMA and the Patients Association as core participants at the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry. Chaired by Robert Francis QC, this is the public inquiry into the role of the commissioning, supervisory and regulatory bodies in the monitoring of Mid Staffordshire Foundation NHS Trust. Ross was made a partner in the clinical negligence and personal injury department in He is an appointed member of the AvMA Clinical Negligence Panel and an APIL Senior Litigator.
