Av. Süleyman Boşça, Managing Partner

Suleyman Bosca, the founding and managing partner of Bosca Law, talks about expected developments in the Turkish energy sector, the contributions of technology to law firms, and his global goals.

What do you see as the main points that differentiate Bosca Law from your competitors?

For 16 years, Bosca Law has been specialized in energy law and proven its expertise in this field, beginning with the period of the liberalization of the energy sector in Turkey. Our specific expertise in this area and the added value that we have provided to our clients in the energy sector is the most important point that differentiates us from our competitors. We keep track of all legal developments in the energy sector on a daily basis and provide support to lawmakers in drafting legislation. We direct our clients with a view to the developments in the energy sector and come up with rapid solutions to legal problems.

We do not only provide legal assistance aimed at helping our clients become more dynamic and competitive in the business arena when there are disputes to be resolved. We also follow changes in legislation and help our clients position themselves accordingly in a rapid manner, putting them one step ahead of their competitors.

We help our clients save money and time by creating speedy solutions and pursuing effective resolutions to problems arising with regulatory institutions and public authorities.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

The breakneck speed of technological development and the need for new working areas and markets drives the creation of many new practice areas.
Technological developments not only create new fields, but they make the technological integration of existing ones inevitable. Developments in e-commerce and the obligation to protect personal data collected through the use of technology have already created new practice areas.

In the energy sector; the storage of electricity, developments in battery technology, electric cars, and the discovery of new energy resources on different continents are some of the facts that point to a need for new legislation.

The abovementioned developments make it imperative to have access to financing, and drives the creation of new financing instruments by many financiers and funds.

At Bosca Law, we have already started preparations to keep up with these changes that we believe will develop rapidly in the next 12 months.

What's the main change you've made in the firm that will benefit clients?

At Bosca Law we believe that the best lawyer is the one who keeps track best of their engagements and their field. in keeping with this principle, we as a law firm follow and apply the newest technological developments.

Furthermore, we encourage our lawyers to attend specific sectoral training programs in order to enrich their professional development and obtain the most up-to-date information.

We take care to use technology in the most efficient way possible to provide faster and more effective services to our clients.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

Without a doubt, our commitment to using technology in the most efficient was possible has increased our interaction with clients. That being said, technology makes important contributions to our service quality, the essence of which remains unchanged.

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

The periodic changes made to renewable energy investment legislation forces investors to shift their positions in a rapid manner.

We have helped many clients engage in more profitable investments and obtain better returns (and make more money) through our commitment to keeping ourselves updated on energy legislation and notifying our clients about possible changes in a timely fashion. We have also helped clients avoid making misguided decisions regarding their investments and losing money.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms - where do you see the firm in three years’ time?

Nowadays, clients look for more in a law firm than simple resolving legal disputes. The inclusion of lawyers on the boards of many large companies reflects the desire to obtain strategic direction and visionary insight from them. This is why we believe that consistent law firms without frequent changes in personnel have a better chance at competing. Bosca Law is aware of these expectations and strives to provide correct and accurate guidance to its clients in many areas.

We are engaged in work aimed at providing legal services to Turkish investors seeking new markets and businessmen who enter new markets by establishing a presence in many different countries and forming new partnerships. Consequently, we aim to consolidate our position among the ranks of international law firms in the next three years.
