This niche firm is acknowledged as a leading specialist in employment and partnership law, acting for employers and partnerships, as well as for very senior executives and partners individually.

The firm: Practising from offices in the heart of the City of London, the firm has a reputation for resolving potentially contentious employment and partnership issues quickly, quietly and frequently without litigation. It has the expertise to advise on complex technical employment problems (Ronnie Fox has been writing on employment law for 25 years) and difficult partnership disputes (Ronnie Fox founded the multi-disciplinary Association of Partnership Practitioners). When there is no alternative, the firm fights hard in tribunals and courts on behalf of clients.

The experience which comes from acting for both large corporate employers and senior executives, and for both professional firms and individual partners, enables Fox to find practical and commercial solutions.

Clients include employers in a wide range of sectors and of all sizes, from small enterprises to large companies. Many clients are law firms, groups of partners or individual partners.

The shared values of the firm include: demonstrating honesty and openness, creating a happy and efficient firm, and providing top-quality legal services. Its commitment to these values is reflected in extra time allocated to identifying and understanding clients’ business objectives, closer relationships between clients and the members of the Fox team, greater responsiveness so that clients’ deadlines are met, and higher levels of service delivery and client satisfaction.

Fox is building on its strong reputation and developing as a happy and fulfilling place at which to work.

Types of work undertaken: Employment advice is provided to both employers and senior employees. The firm’s employment experience ranges from drafting contracts to unfair dismissal and redundancy, including litigation.

Fox frequently acts for firms asking a partner to leave or seeking to recruit a partner. Fox also advises individual partners and teams of partners who are moving from one firm to another. Fox has assisted a number of traditional partnerships in the process of conversion to limited liability status.

The firm’s office is midway between the Bank of England and Lloyd’s of London. Fox frequently advises clients in the financial sector on issues such as bonuses, deferred compensation, carried interest and co-investment rights, and is completely familiar with the way in which banks, private equity firms and hedge funds operate. A particular specialisation is interpreting and enforcing restrictive covenants.

An increasing proportion of the work undertaken by Fox involves unlawful discrimination and professional regulation issues. The firm’s clients include professional firms and individual solicitors, addressing issues raised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
