CLIENT: Sir David ODowd
COMPANY/FIRM: Christos Georgiades & Associates LLC
TESTIMONIAL: I have been a client of Christos Georgiades & Associates LLC for the past 17 years and used a variety of their services through my Lawyer Fofo Georgiades. I have always found the Practice to be highly professional, courteous and giving of clear, unambiguous legal advice, whenever I have needed it. I have total confidence in my personal Lawyer. So too are their support staff excellent and work seamlessly with the individual partners. There have been many occasions when my lawyer has responded to queries ‘out of office hours’ and provided practical solutions to key and complex issues when required. Their costing framework is slightly above that of some others but in my view is worth the investment for the service provided.

COMPANY/FIRM: Christos Georgiades & Associates LLC
TESTIMONIAL: As South African permanent residents of Cyprus, unfamiliar with Cypriot laws and customs, we have found it very difficult to conduct business effectively from so far away. We therefore decided to entrust the purchase of our new house in Pafos to Ms Fofo Georgiadou of Christos Georgiades & Associates. This was one of the best things we could have done. She conducted the legalities and certain problems that arose speedily and professionally and to our complete satisfaction. Ms Georgiadou was so efficient and capable that we have now assigned her a general Power of Attorney to conduct all our affairs in Cyprus. The advice and service that we received from Christos Georgiades & Associates was always professional, prompt, courteous and effective.

Interviews
Agis Georgiades, Partner
What do you see as the main points that differentiate CGA from your competitors?
Unlike most law firms in the jurisdiction, CGA is strongly focused on very specific areas of practice, namely international dispute resolution and asset/wealth management.
Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?
Both our practices, although different and distinct, are expected to grow in the next 12 months. In respect of dispute resolution, this is largely because of the geopolitical changes affecting the dispute resolution landscape, as well as the modernization of the CPR and court system. In relation to asset/wealth management, investors are looking for boutique firms, highly specialized in their respective sectors, and I believe CGA has a significant advantage in this respect.
What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?
Reducing our sphere or work to practices in which we are highly specialized in.
Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?
In CGA we were always seeking to be up to date with the use of technology, especially where this could improve our service to the client. We are constantly looking at improved, safe and simple ways of facilitating our communication with our clients and service providers.
Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?
CGA has a very large network of cooperating firms, in various jurisdictions. In fact, most of our work, especially in dispute resolution, comes from law firms and service providers from other jurisdictions. We recently had a case who we assisted overcome a significant deadlock in its business activities by introducing the client to the appropriate advisors and experts in the relevant jurisdictions.
Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three years’ time?
The clients are definitely looking for stability and strategy. One of the problems with larger, full-service firms, is that they often loose these attributes when partners move. I believe that the role of such firms will remain important, particularly in coordinating large-scale disputes and projects. But these firms will increasingly refer work to smaller, specialized firms in the relevant jurisdictions.
