Peeters Advocaten-Avocats is a full service corporate law firm, founded in 2009, that provides legal services to businesses at a national and international level.

Its clientele, from stock listed to small and medium sized businesses, is active across a range of markets, economic and business sectors, throughout the world.

Areas of practice

The Corporate Law, M&A and Insolvency Law practice of Peeters Advocaten-Avocats is headed by Leo Peeters a specialist in national and cross-border corporate and business law, and in commercial and financial transactions. He offers advice to his clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financial transactions and restructuring of companies, private equity investments and venture capital financing across a range of industry sectors. His experience covers contract law, commercial law, banking and finance law, insolvency, distribution law, construction and real estate, telecom and arbitration. Leo has broad experience from his 30 years in practice. In 1998, he was founding partner of Peeters Advocaten in co-operation with Ernst&Young.

Alain De Jonge has extensive experience in advising and assisting national and international investors with respect to real estate transactions, such as office buildings, commercial real estate, shopping centers, hotels and housing developments. In addition he is experienced in business law, and advises his clients on acquisitions, corporate law and contracts. Alain is also a very experienced and successful litigator. Before co-founding Peeters Advocaten, Alain was active with Mc Kenna&Cuneo, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer&Feld, and Loyens & Loeff.

Marcel Houben handles all aspects of employment, industrial relations and social security law, such as organising the employment and social security status of international and management level employees and international assignments, setting up employment structures and alternative cooperation arrangements, negotiating and drafting of tailor made employment contracts, restrictive covenants, work regulations and employee manuals, negociating (complex) termination settlements. He assists his clients with respect to the industrial relations law aspects of mergers, acquisitions, closures and collective dismissals, relations with the unions and the personnel representation bodies at company level. He represents his clients before the Belgian employment courts. Before joining Peeters Advocaten, he was a partner of Oppenheimer, Wolff & Donnelly, Stanbrook & Hooper and subsequently of Simmons&Simmons, where he headed the Brussels employment law practice.

Griet Verfaillie heads the IP, IT and Commercial law practive. She has acquired extensive experience in advising on problems concerning trade practices (labeling, joint offers, price reduction announcements, sales, etc.) and intellectual property and IT matters, in particular, trademarks, copyrights, counterfeiting, designs, and property of knowhow as well as privacy (data protection). She is also experienced in commercial and distribution law, including competition matters, franchising and agency. Prior to joining Peeters Advocaten, Griet was a senior lawyer with Coudert Brothers Belgium, in the Media and Technology Department of the DLA Piper and was at Thompson Hine LLP.
