The firm also handles a significant number of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution matters involving government contracts, construction and financial legal issues.

Banking and financial services law: KKP is the main legal advisor to leading international commercial and investment banks, co-operative societies, finance companies, investment firms and funds in regards to various aspects of domestic legislation.

KKP has extensive experience in drafting agreements and other instruments used by banks, co-operative societies and finance institutions. Its litigation team deals on a regular basis with disputes and litigation between banks and customers, disclosure issues, fraud and tracing claims, repossession disputes, mareva injunctions, Norwich Pharmacal orders and garnishee orders.

Public procurement: KKP represents both individuals and corporate bodies before the Tender Review Authority, the Cyprus Administrative Court and the Supreme Court in Public Procurement disputes. Its practice involves hierarchical and judicial recourses against the validity of tender awards made by public authorities and state organs in Cyprus, temporary measures and appellate procedures.

The firm’s team also advises public authorities and corporate entities on a range of legal issues related to tenders in Cyprus, including structuring the tender transaction and choosing the appropriate tendering procedure, preparing and advising on procurement documents and conducting the evaluation of tenders and managing the procurement process and contract award issues.

KKP is currently acting as the local legal advisors of the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Works in relation to the redevelopment of the Larnaca Port and Marina Area, the Ministry of Education and Culture in relation to the reorganisation of the school boards in Cyprus (a project funded by the European Commission), the Ministry of Justice and Public Order in relation to the legal framework of mediation and the alternative dispute resolution methods, the Cyprus Transmission System Operator of Electrical Energy (which was established following the decision of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus to apply the relevant European directive for liberalising the electricity market), the Research Promotion Foundation, the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education, the Cyprus’ National Research and Education Network and other public bodies.
