Position

Head of the Leeds employment team. Advises businesses of all sizes in both the public and private sectors on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law and acts for a number of household names, blue chip PLCs, SMEs and owner-managed businesses. Considerable advocacy experience, particularly in the field of discrimination law, and regularly represents clients in tribunals throughout the country, as well as in the Scottish jurisdiction. Undertakes advice in relation to complex restructuring and redundancy exercises in both the private and public sectors and advises on the settlement of agreements for high-net-worth individuals with complex issues arising in respect of shares, taxation and settlement offers. Glenn also provides advice in relation to restrictive covenants, both in relation to onboarding and offboarding. He specialises in the difficult area of TUPE and has been involved in a number of high-profile corporate mergers and acquisitions, advising on the employment aspects of due diligence and drafting appropriate warranties and indemnities. He is also a regular presenter at seminars on a variety of employment law topics. Career highlights include: successfully defending a claim on the issue of part-time workers and bank holidays on a point of law never previously tested in the tribunal system, which proceeded through the EAT and to the Court of Session (McMenemy v Capita Business Services Ltd); conducting the defence of large scale claims in relation to overtime/commission and holiday pay; successfully defending an appeal against a decision to strike out a complex discrimination claim in the Employment Appeal Tribunal; conducting a high-value High Court litigation claim which involved obtaining injunctions to enforce restrictive covenants on behalf of a recruitment company against two former employees and their new company; defending a ÂŁ650,000 wrongful dismissal claim in the Royal Courts of Justice; and advising on various corporate and other high-level transactions.
