Position

Partner at Irwin Mitchell and heads the clinical negligence team in their Newcastle office. Many years of experience dealing with medical negligence claims on behalf of claimants and has dealt with a large number of cases including: birth injury and cerebral palsy claims; orthopaedic and surgical claims; accident and emergency claims; failure to diagnose cancer and oncology claims and claims resulting in fatality, also representing families at inquests in the Coroners court. Medical negligence claims can be very complex and Angela works with clients not only to recover the compensation they deserve but to obtain answers to questions many clients have following negligent medical treatment. Recovers interim payments whenever possible.

Irwin Mitchell¬†is ‚Äėtruly excellent‚Äô and best known for its expertise in handling high-value cerebral palsy and serious brain injury claims. Team head Angela Kirtley¬†recently¬†recovered an interim payment for a claimant, who suffered a brain injury immediately before her birth at the University Hospital of North Tees. In a similar matter, she acted for a client whose delayed resuscitation following his birth led to catastrophic brain injury. The team also handled a complex clinical negligence claim pertaining to an acquired brain injury in the perinatal period which resulted in the claimant suffering from cerebral palsy and a learning disability, and acted for a client who suffered a serious brain injury from the delayed diagnosis of a brain tumour. Senior associate Lindsey Henderson¬†has particular expertise in cosmetic surgery cases and routinely advises on substandard breast surgery issues and adverse outcomes following dermal fillers.
