In recent work, the team advised on pension law matters pertaining to a voluntary redundancy programme and corporate restructure alongside occupational and personal pension benefits as well as maternity-related pension issues. Team head Angela Kirtley recently recovered an interim payment for a claimant, who suffered a brain injury immediately before her birth at the University Hospital of North Tees. In a similar matter, she acted for a client whose delayed resuscitation following his birth led to catastrophic brain injury. The team also handled a complex clinical negligence claim pertaining to an acquired brain injury in the perinatal period which resulted in the claimant suffering from cerebral palsy and a learning disability, and acted for a client who suffered a serious brain injury from the delayed diagnosis of a brain tumour. Senior associate Lindsey Henderson has particular expertise in cosmetic surgery cases and routinely advises on substandard breast surgery issues and adverse outcomes following dermal fillers.
