Position

Jonathan's practice covers the full range of dry shipping and casualty work. He has extensive experience advising on charterparties, bills of lading and general cargo issues, as well as casualty work and marine insurance claims. He is regularly involved in shipbuilding and ship sale & purchase cases. He acts for oil industry and cargo interests, the sellers and buyers of oil and gas, the major P&I Clubs, their shipowner and charterer members, and major insurers. A pioneer in the introduction of ADR into his fields of practice and an accredited mediator, he is also a practising arbitrator and Fellow of the Institute of Arbitrators. Jonathan is author of a number of leading texts in the law of shipping and ADR. Jonathan was instrumental in setting up the Hamburg office of Ince & Co, serving for two years as senior partner in Hamburg before returning to London in 2004. He is a member of the Steering Group of the London Shipping Law Centre.

Career

Jonathan S. Lux has been a partner of Ince & Co LLP for 30 years, working predominantly in the areas of maritime/shipping, insurance, international trade, off-shore oil and gas and dispute resolution generally. Jonathan is a highly accomplished mediator and is now receiving several mediation appointments a month. He is a member of the JAMS International panel (http://www.jamsadr.com) and can also be found on the Clerksroom database (www.clerksroom.com). Jonathan is also fully accredited by and a member of the International Mediation Institute (http://imimediation.org/jonathan-lux) Jonathan also receives regular appointments as arbitrator both in relation to maritime disputes and international commercial law disputes more widely. Most recently he sat as an arbitrator of the Hungarian Arbitration Court in Budapest on an international trade dispute.
