Bart De Moor is a partner in our Dispute Resolution practice. He assists and advises clients in litigation and alternative dispute resolution, company law, commercial law, private international law and secured debt, whether it concerns complex international issues or local matters. Much of his work revolves around corporate disputes such as shareholders’ and directors’ disputes, directors’ liability, insolvency related disputes.... He is also a partner in our Restructuring & Insolvency practice, where he advises clients on reorganisation and insolvency.

Bart is a mediator in civil and commercial matters, accredited with the Federale Bemiddelingscommissie since 2007 and he is an insolvency practitioner admitted at the Brussels Business Court (Dutch: Ondernemingsrechtbank, French: Tribunal de l’entreprise )


He started his career with Dal & Veldekens and moved to Laga where he was a partner from 2000 until 2009, prior to joining Taylor Wessing as a partner for the departments Company, Civil and Commercial Law Litigation as well as Insolvency and Reconstruction. Bart joined Strelia in July 2015.

Bart was a member of the Council of the Dutch-speaking Bar of Brussels from 2007 till 2010 and a former delegate of the Brussels Bar at the General Assembly of Flemish Bar Associations from 2008 till 2017.


He studied law at the University of Namur and at the University of Ghent obtaining his law degree in 1986. In 1992, he also obtained a certificate awarding a four-year cycle of courses on the Legal System of the United States, delivered by the University of Georgia and the Brussels Bar. In 1993, Bart obtained a certificate in Health Economics at the University of Antwerp. In 2014, Bart obtained the Certificate “Einführung in das deutsche Recht” awarded by the Deutscher Anwaltverein and the Dutch Bar Association in Brussels.

'Very pragmatic' firm Strelia is well known for handling corporate litigation and insolvency disputes; for example, department head Jean-Pierre Fierens is representing directors of Optima Bank in claims for damages following the bank's bankruptcy. Olivier Clevenbergh, who 'understands very complex situations quickly', and Bart De Moor are also names to note. Sébastien Ryelandt was a new arrival from Clifford Chance.

The ‘specialist’ insolvency and restructuring practice at Strelia has 'a good understanding of the Belgian market’ and ‘a straight-forward approach’. The team was appointed as office holder in the judicial reorganisation of the Flamant Group Brussels. It also acted as liquidator in the bankruptcy of Photo Hall Multimedia. ‘Stand-out’ lawyer Bart De Moor heads the practice and is ‘very competent in cross-border cases’.
