The firm

EGNA has been successfully involved in litigation and the provision of legal advice for many years now, and constantly sets itself new targets within Greece and abroad, to provide more comprehensive and beneficial support to its clients.

The firm was established in 1984 by Efthymios G Navridis who initially focused on civil law, and then with the aid of experienced staff extended operations into other fields of law. The firm proved itself to be an office capable of providing its clients with comprehensive legal support, a continuous improvement in the level of services offered and an ever-growing portfolio of new services. Since 2009 the firm in Athens has held ISO 9001/2008 certification provided by the international certification body TUV Hellas (a member of the TUV Nord Group) to ensure that its operations are in line with the specifications and requirements laid down by the international standard. This certification confirms the quality of the services that are offered to its clients.

EGNA views the profession of a lawyer not as a static profession, but as an endless horizon. The firm is always seeking to develop mutually beneficial international partnerships. The result of this is that today, along with the head office in Athens, the firm has a dynamic presence in Bucharest, Pristina, Skopje, Sofia and Tirana, with fully equipped offices, staffed by a Greek-speaking team, to ensure prompt and appropriate legal services mostly to the Greek-owned businesses operating in these countries. On 18 November 2012, a co-operation memorandum was signed in Dubai between ‘ADAM Consulting’ and the firm. EGNA represent ADAM Consulting in Greece, Romania, Albania and Kosovo. It has also collaborated with some of the largest, most respected firms in Istanbul, Nicosia, Dubai and Erbil, having built up close relations with them to ensure a prompt, responsible and appropriate service for its clients.

Areas of practice

Besides representing and assisting some of the biggest banks in Greece, commercial law is one of the law firm’s main focuses of activity, involving the planning and implementation of well-rounded plans to rescue businesses and bring them within the scope of the applicable favourable provisions of the bankruptcy code (reorganisation, conciliation, bankruptcy, etc), set up and run companies, arrange share capital increases, amend articles of association, offer support on banking law issues, promote e-commerce and e-tenders, claim unpaid receivables for its clients as a part of their commercial operations (cheques, bills of exchange, invoices, etc) out of court or via litigation, and using bailiffs to implement compulsory enforcement orders. Note that these bailiffs operate under EGNA’s guidance and supervision at all times.

In civil law, the firm’s staff are well poised to provide comprehensive legal support for all manner of civil cases including claims/contracts, work contracts, inheritances/wills, family law cases, occupational accidents, car accidents, new forms of contracts (leasing, factoring, franchising), consumer protection, medical liability, hotel and tourism law.

Further, Efthymios Navridis himself, assisted by a team of associates who have the necessary academic background and courtroom experience, deals with all kinds of cases regarding criminal law, with an emphasis on financial crime involving complex forms of crimes that are detrimental to the interests of the state or private individuals. These include money laundering, smuggling, tax evasion or social security contributions evasion, fraud, forgery and embezzlement, and media law. EGNA keeps a close eye on the relevant legislative reforms and is in constant contact with the National Radio-Television Council and property management, in turn, handling cases of leases, owner–lessee relations, commercial properties, property development, title searches, conveyancing, property tax, as well as assisting citizens of third countries who would like to obtain residence permits.
