The firm

The firm was established in 2009 by Oleksandr Zavadetskyi, who has been a licensed advocate since 2001 and a lawyer since 1996. The firm’s main areas of practice were initially dispute resolution and corporate finance, but focus has now shifted from transactional work to litigious work. The team specialises in white-collar crime and regulatory disputes, along with general dispute resolution. The firm had been gradually growing in size until 2014, when a reduction in demand from the firm’s target clientele stipulated some reduction of the firm’s fee-earners from 14 to ten.

Areas of practice

The firm operates in a wide range of dispute resolution matters, advising and representing clients in administrative, commercial and civil courts of all instances. In this area of activity the firm has worked for large international banking groups in recovery of non-performing corporate loans and enforcement of collateral; for multinational industrial companies that have businesses in Ukraine in various disputes of commercial and regulatory nature; for international investors in their conflicts with counterparts; and in many other matters. Along with this, a special feature of the firm has always been its focus on work where commercial and civil law intersects with criminal law, as well as special regulations on anti-corruption, anti-money-laundering, regulatory investigations and others of this kind. High-profile companies assign Zavadetskyi Advocates to handle criminal law and regulatory matters for them due to this quality.

The team has extensive hands-on experience in representing individuals on the defence side, as well as witnesses and victims, in criminal prosecutions related to corruption, fraud, discrimination, money-laundering and other white-collar crimes. The firm successfully handles white-collar cases that also involve serious crimes, such as violent offences and drug-trafficking etc.
