Founding Partner: specialized in Intellectual Property and Information Technology advertising, data protection (privacy) and e-commerce laws.

Career

Mr. Sanna was admitted to practice in 2003. He worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's Intellectual Property and Information Technology department from 2004 to 2007. He was the co-founder of the firm in 2007, which in 2013 welcomed as new partner, Mr. Ortu and became Orsingher – Ortu Avvocati Associati. He gained significant experience on intellectual property, advertising, data protection (privacy) and e-commerce laws both in the contentious and non-contentious spheres. His practice includes transactional matters, mainly related to IT and IP rights, including all aspects of development, production and distribution of films and TV programmes. He lectured Intellectual Property Law at Ca' Foscari University in Venice and is currently lecturer in Intellectual Property and New Media at University of Pavia. Mr. Sanna has authored various publications on copyright and design laws.

Mr. Sanna graduated with a law degree, cum laude, from Pavia University in 2000. He obtained MJur and MPhil master degrees from Oxford University in 2002 and 2004, respectively and a PhD in intellectual Property and Competition Law from Pavia University in 2004.

Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati is best known for IP and TMT-related matters, but has expanded its expertise to contentious commercial, financial, competition and employment matters. Marco Consonni and Fabrizio Sanna are the practice heads. Highlights included representing a manufacturer in a dispute regarding acts of unfair competition carried out by a competitor with the support of former employees, and assisting Ferrari with its brand protection. Corporate, regulatory and litigation matters are cornerstones of Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati's practice, which is jointly led by Marco Consonni and Domenico Colella. Consonni was part of a group, which assisted a major e-commerce company with its launch of a smart speaker. The team also advised Toshiba on the €110m sale of 70% of Mangiarotti to the remaining shareholder, Westinghouse Electric Company, in the context of a larger transaction. Other highlights include assisting Tagetik with structuring and negotiating business-to-business agreements with various banks, asset management companies and other financial institutions. Fabrizio Sanna is an 'outstanding partner', with 'excellent knowledge of the sector'. Counsel Federica Cinquetti, who specialises in litigation, joined from Gianni, Origoni, Grippo, Cappelli & Partners in February 2018.

Fabrizio Sanna, who often advises on design and copyright issues, is representing the OTB Group in several contentious matters for infringement of 3D trade marks and designs on well-known bag models. Amazon also appointed the team to handle the protection and management of its IP portfolio and longstanding client Ferrari received strategic advice on brand protection, anti-piracy and anti-counterfeiting issues.
