Which practises do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

GÜR offers legal services in mainly following practises:

As a result of both global and local developments in the economy and markets we have seen growing demands from our clients for resolution of disputes based on breach or termination of commercial agreements such as distribution, joint venture agreements etc.  in various industries such as manufacturing, energy, retail.
Furthermore, we recently witnessed a growth in disputes involving cyber-crimes in the shipping industry and we anticipate a further growth of this type of disputes from Turkey in addition to the common claims and casualties.

What's the main change you've made in the firm that will benefit clients?

Technology is assisting our clients to obtain timely comprehensive replies which follow the dynamic of their businesses.

We also believe that use of social media by our firm wil grant clients further access to the firm and its knowledge.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

The rapidity in which our clients are required to do business has influenced our Firm in investing in technologies such as laptops, ipads, mobiles so as to ensure a coverage of our clients’ queries promptly. The Firm has also increased its involvement in social media and diffusion of many legal articles. The Firm is currently working on the creation of an application for mobile phones.

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

Through close co-operation and exchange of knowledge between our transactional law and discpute resolution teams, we have been able to warn the clients regarding business and legal risks related to the prospective matter or investment before they materialize and take the necessary legal measures in order to minimize or eliminate such risks.
This approach became significantly important as a result of the global and local economic developments which resulted in financial risks becoming more and more common.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms? - where do you see the firm in three years time?

In the current changes for Turkey, clients are definitively looking for strategic direction from their law firm and expect the law firm to have a good understanding of the market, risk assessment prior to conducting business and to carry out the due diligence ensuring them a good understanding of risks of the business they are intending to go in.
Our internal strategies are currently towards further development of the Corporate, Banking, Commercial Disputes and Marine practices in order to follow our anticipated prediction of growth in these markets.
