Raj is a leading criminal lawyer with expertise in serious crime, public order and white collar crime. A Higher Rights Advocate, he appears in the Crown Court and is widely regarded as a leader in the profession. He has a thriving advocacy practice on fraud cases and has developed significant niche expertise in bribery/corruption, having represented several executives and is the author of the Bribery Handbook. He acted in several high profile “Black Lives Matter protests” and is currently instructed on Stansted 15 case  as he is one a handful of specialist human rights specialist who can take on cases with political dimensions. His serious crime practice includes homicide, drugs and serous violence.

 He blogs for Bloomsbury Professional on the topic of bribery, is a member of the General Committee at the Fraud Lawyers Association, writes a quarterly column for Legal Action Group and regularly comments for media on criminal issues. He is a founder member of Netpol Lawyers Group (civil and criminal practitioners who specialise in protest law). He also sits on the Board of Freedom for Torture, the international charity Legal Action Worldwide,  People and Planet and the Criminal Law Reform Network.  He was shortlisted as Advocate of Year for Law Society Excellence Awards and Society of Asian Lawyers, Criminal Lawyer of Year in 2017.   He  has already been awarded Legal Aid Lawyer of Year 2012, shortlisted asAdvocate of Year 2013 and commended as Advocate of Year 2014 (latter two in relation to Law Society Excellence Awards).

It represents vulnerable individuals and also high-net-worth individuals such as celebrities. Raj Chada leads on advising 15 defendants who prevented a plane deporting refugees from taking off at Stansted airport by breaking into the airport and blocking the runway; the case is ongoing. Nigel Richardson heads the team, supported by Graeme Hydari and senior associate Gary Monks. Kiran Mehta and Atiyah Malik joined as partners. Samira Noor Khan left the firm.
