Position

Josef David is a senior lawyer at BBH specializing in corporate, insolvency, capital markets and real estate law. Mr. David concentrates his practice particularly on M&A, project financing, restructuring and insolvency proceeding, as well as specific fields in capital markets law. Within these areas, Mr. David has led or is participating in significant projects including, among others: (1) providing legal advice to and representing legal entities belonging to PPF Group in the insolvency proceedings with the debtor ECM REAL ESTATE INVESTMENTS A.G. and representing Glancus Investments Inc. as a member of the creditor´s committee in these proceedings, which is currently one of the most important and complicated cross border cases in the Czech Republic with registered claims amounting to 9 billion CZK; (2) providing legal services to the majority consortium of SAZKA bondholders in the restructuring and insolvency proceedings of the SAZKA company, the most extensive insolvency proceeding on the Czech market up to now; (3) providing legal services to the companies in the GENERALI holding in connection with the consolidation of their real estate portfolio and their participation as creditor in insolvency proceedings; (4) structuring and negotiation of contractual documentation for companies of CEZ Group regarding the acquisitions of companies acting on the market in the production of and trade in electricity in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria; (5) structuring and negotiation of contractual documentation relating to the construction, sales, leasing and property management for clients across different sectors including construction and the operation of conventional sources of electricity and solar and wind farms; (6) structuring and implementation of the share buyback program of CEZ Group; (7) providing legal advice in connection with the implementation of the takeover bids of Zentiva NV and ECM REAL ESTATE INVESTMENTS A.G.; (8) the establishment and licensing of funds of qualified investors in the Czech Republic; and (9) providing legal advice and preparation of contractual documentation in a number of transactions consisting of debt financing, both of a bilateral and syndicated nature.

Career

Mr. David joined BBH in 2006. Prior to joining the firm he worked for one of the largest Czech law firms and also acquired experience in several managerial positions in IT related business companies.

Education

Josef graduated both from the Faculty of Law at Charles University and the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Economics in Prague. Currently he is continuing in his PhD. studies.
