Andrey Gorodissky & Partners was founded in 1992 and is recognised as one of the leading Russian firms of business lawyers. The firm specialises in the provision of services to foreign companies and financial institutions doing business in Russia. The firm’s client base ranges from multinational, US, Western European and Asian companies (60% of the practice) to major and medium-sized Russian enterprises.

The partners of the firm have the status of advocates under Russian law and are members of the Moscow Bar Association. The firm acts on a permanent basis as local counsel on matters of Russian law for various international law firms. The firm has extensive experience of handling complicated cross-border transactions and investment projects involving participants and counsel located in various jurisdictions. Areas of practice

Capital markets: in recent years, the firm has participated in 17 IPO and Eurobond projects for Russian companies, with a total value of US$9.5bn. The firm regularly represents major US and international financial institutions in in-depth financing and equity investment projects in Russia.

M&A: one of the firm’s core areas of practice. In the past three years, the firm has represented international and domestic clients in a series of M&A transactions in Russia and abroad, with a total value of over US$2bn.

Taxation: the firm provides clients with comprehensive advice on the tax implications of commercial transactions. In the past two years, the firm has represented clients in 20 successful tax litigations.

Real estate and construction: the firm’s lawyers have extensive experience of handling projects for the construction of industrial, office and residential complexes. The firm has extensive experience of due diligence in real estate, the structuring of property acquisition transactions, the representation of clients in negotiations with various administrative agencies, and before courts in disputes over title and registration procedures.

Corporate: the firm provides its clients with a full range of services on corporate matters, including advice on corporate structure, the setting up of companies, drafting of various corporate documents, and representation of clients in equity investment transactions.

Intellectual property: the firm is licensed to handle trade mark matters. Its lawyers regularly serve major international brand-holders in connection with the registration and protection of their trade marks in Russia. The firm has extensive experience in the protection of copyrights.

Employment: the firm regularly advises corporate employers on labour law matters, represents them in various lawsuits lodged by current and former employees, and also has a good record in the out-of-court settlement of labour disputes, to the satisfaction of clients.

Business aviation: the firm represents clients in negotiations to purchase various types of business jets, and has extensive experience of drafting and negotiating management and operating agreements with aircraft operators from the UK, Switzerland, Austria, Latvia and Russia.

Litigation and arbitration: the firm represents clients before common courts, state commercial (arbitrazh) courts and in international commercial arbitration, both institutional and ad hoc. The firm has broad experience of serving Russian and foreign clients, and represents clients before courts in Moscow and other cities of the Russian Federation.

Natural resources: a major part of the firm’s activities are concerned with sub-soil use, particularly for the exploration and development of oil and gas fields, and the extraction and sale of oil and gas.
