Position
Partner in healthcare litigation department. Principal area of practice is defendant regulatory/disciplinary work and clinical negligence litigation, with a particular interest in dental law matters. Provides advice and representation to individual dental and medical practitioners and a variety of NHS bodies. A significant area of practice is the representation of dental and medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals before the various committees of their professional disciplinary/regulatory bodies (GDC/GMC/HPC).
Career
Qualified as a dental surgeon in 1979 and spent ten years in general dental practice, both in the UK and overseas. Joined Hempsons as a trainee solicitor in 1991; qualified 1993; partner 1996. Legal advisor to the ‘British Dental Journal’. Regular columnist to the dental press; lectures widely to the dental profession on dento-legal matters (eg BDA/DPL Fitness to Practice Event; British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons conference). Publications include numerous articles on dento-legal matters in ‘The British Dental Journal’; ‘Dentistry’; ‘The Probe’; and other leading dental publications.
