Professional practices.
Position
Heads up the professional practitioners department; deals with all aspects of non-contentious commercial property and non-litigious partnership law and practice. More specifically: commercial property: specialises in advising on new developments within the NHS sector, particularly in connection with LIFT leases (including authoring the official national guidance to GPs on NHS LIFT leases); 3PD leases; primary health care premises developments generally; cost rent valuation issues; SDLT issues relating to transfers of shares of property between partners; declarations of trust; also advises the third sector on commercial property developments and other property issues. Partnership: acts for various professionals (including solicitors, accountants, patent agents, notaries, etc, as well as GPs and dentists (both NHS and private)) in connection with advice on: LLP and 1890 partnership formations; medical chambers; partnership disputes; partnership deeds; practice advice generally (including issues relating to PCT contracts); issues of goodwill; has also given advice of a national policy nature to the BMA/GMSC.
Career
Qualified 1982; partner Hempsons 1985 to date; presentation of many seminars and lectures on property and partnership matters, both nationally and internationally; author of many articles and a contributor to numerous books, the most recent of which was ‘A Practitioners Guide to LLP Law and Regulation’; legal columnist to ‘GP Journal’ (incorporating ‘Medeconomics’).
