Sarpong Odame practices with Kimathi & Partners’ Corporate, Energy, Tax and Finance team. He has acquired relevant experience in Ghana primarily in relation to corporate, commercial, tax, finance and energy matters.

Sarpong has worked on some of the major deals handled by the firm. He was part of the team which advised a holding company of a bank and an insurance company on the sale of its shares to a private equity firm. He was also part of the team which advised Africa Finance Corporation, ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development and Fidelity Bank on their US$ 100,000,000 loan syndication to the Volta River Authority.

Recently, Sarpong advised a renewable energy company on the acquisition of a biomass energy producing company in Ghana including the underlying assets. He was also part of the team that advised a major pharmaceutical company on its takeover of another pharmaceutical company listed on the stock exchange. He is currently advising the pharmaceutical company on its scheme of amalgamation intended to merge three major Ghanaian pharmaceutical companies.

He has relevant experience in advising multinational corporations on setting up in Ghana and how to set up in a tax efficient manner. He advised a multinational renewable energy company on setting up in Ghana. He recently advised a global transportation network company and another major renewable energy company on the tax implications of their activities in Ghana.

He also advised a major LNG company on the supply of its floating, storage, regasification unit (FSRU) in Ghana. Sarpong has relevant experience in advising companies who intend to set up within the petroleum upstream sector and has advised many multinationals on how to set up and comply with the local content laws of Ghana.
