Position
Partner - Banking, capital markets, project finance and corporate finance. Alexandra has extensive experience in a broad range of capital markets, banking, project finance and corporate finance work, acting for international investment banks as well as Portuguese banks. Alexandra has advised on a range of important financial operations such as privatisations and public offers of shares, large mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and project finance in the energy sector including wind, wave and solar projects and road projects, as well as asset finance (including aviation, ship, flight simulators, engines and technical equipment), providing advice to banks and other investors. She has been involved in more than 70 securitisations to date in Portugal, structuring ABS, RMBS, CMBS and other transactions involving innovative asset classes (such as trade receivables, municipal receivables, health receivables and non-performing loans), and more recently involving the ECB, as well as being in vanguard of synthetic securitisation in the Portuguese market. Alexandra has been very active in the distressed debt market, both on the acqusition and disposals of portfolios as well as bilateral loans. She has also advised extensively on the provision of debt finance to Portuguese companies (including loans, bullet loans, “Schuldschein” loans and SAHO loans); EMTN and ECP/CD programmes; debt issues by Portuguese banks; the registration of funds in Portugal; repackaging and further loan issues at the Madeira International Business Centre.
Career
Joined the office as trainee lawyer in 1994. In 2004 was recognised by the Portuguese Bar Association as Finance Law Specialist. In 2005 was promoted to partner of Simmons & Simmons. She is now a partner in the Banking & Finance Group of SRS Advogados.
