JC Law and the Secured Transaction Law
As of 2010, JC Law has been assisting the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on the Jordanian Secured Transactions Law project. The project was suspended temporarily and later resumed in January of 2012.
During March 2012, JC Law was engaged by IFC to assist in the Secured Transactions Law projects in both Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. Consequentially, JC Law, represented by Lana Salameh, accompanied a team of specialists on work visits to both Lebanon (April and May), and to Abu Dhabi and Dubai of the United Arab Emirates (April).
During the visit to Lebanon, the first draft bill was discussed with the Lebanese authorities and the lawyers of the ad-hoc work group. The discussions are on-going, and it is expected that a revised version of the law is to be produced shortly.
As for the visit to Abu Dhabi and Dubai of the United Arab Emirates, it included visits to several law firms and official departments, such as the Dubai International Finance Centre in order to obtain information regarding the legal framework and practices adopted in the UAE in relation to the Secured Transactions Law. JC Law's representative Lana Salameh, also spoke at a workshop organized to launch the project in Abu Dhabi.
