Huw prides himself on a straight-talking, honest and realistic approach to costs and the prospects of success.

Educated at St John’s College Cambridge University, Huw worked for ten years as a litigator at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and White & Case before moving from London, working first as a partner in a regional firm, then forming his own boutique firm, Walker Wallis, which merged with Greenwoods in February 2012.

Huw now heads the Greenwoods GRM disputes team, which includes specialist sub-teams in construction, property disputes and contested trusts and probate.

Huw has a wealth of experience in commercial disputes of all kinds, many featuring complex or international elements. His clients include major companies, as well as smaller owner-managed businesses and individuals in the region, nationally and internationally.

Greenwoods GRM has corporate finance specialists in both Cambridge and Peterborough who advise numerous borrowers, commercial banks and other lenders on acquisition finance and real estate finance, while the litigation team handles financial services disputes. Alastair Gunn leads the practice and calls upon litigators Huw Wallis and associate Jamie McConnell , head of commercial property Karin Horsley and associate Samantha East. Among the firm's highlights are contentious matters including McConnell's work for a currency trader in a dispute with an international banking group, and financing matters including the arrangement of a £400,000 loan on behalf of the lender to fund a share acquisition.

The practice at Greenwoods GRM has a new shape since corporate partner Duncan Walker  joined Bircham Dyson Bell & Cambridge and Mark Williams  moved to Greene & Greene, but corporate partner David Woods is now in place in Cambridge to handle large transactions for clients in the technology sector. He acted for shareholders of NextG-Com Limited in its sale to an international IT company. Associate Victoria Robinson advises on the creation and exploitation of mobile apps, Huw Wallis handles commercial disputes relating to ICT contracts, and senior solicitor Jamie McConnell is recommended for disputes involving both IT contracts and intellectual property.  The firm counts Data Interchange, The Retail Data Partnership and Red Fish Systems among its clients.
