Sandrine Hirsch has a wide experience in the field of business law at large, with a specific focus on corporate law, capital markets and banking and finance. She interalia advises banks, investment companies, insurance companies and corporate groups in connection with M&A transactions, issues of securities and takeoverbids. She also assists family shareholders of large listed and unlisted companies in relation with all corporate and finance issues such as corporate governance, structuring of shareholdings, shareholders agreements…

She acts regularly in collaboration with investment banks and other professional advisors.

In addition, she handles litigation and arbitration proceedings relating to the areas of company law and financial law.

Sandrine Hirsch has published various contributions on company law and financial law. She is notably co-author of the book “Les offres publiques d’acquisition, 10 ans d’application de la réglementation” (Larcier, 2018). She is often invited to speak at seminars in those areas. She recently participated as speaker to several seminars on the upcoming reform of the Belgian Companies Code.

Simont Braun is an active player in the digital transformation of the financial services sector in Belgium, with its team advising Belgian and overseas-based clients on a wide range of fintech projects, including those relating to alternative lending, initial coin offerings, electronic trading venues and blockchain applications. The firm was a founding member of independent not-for-profit organisation FinTech Belgium, where Catherine Houssa is a director. Partner Philippe De Prez, who is also noted for his fintech expertise, is also knowledgeable about initiatives connected with InsurTech and RegTech. De Prez and Houssa advised French digital bank Oney Bank on introducing a micro-credit product to the Belgian market. Elsewhere, Vanessa Marquette is recommended for her expertise in international finance law, which encompasses areas such as factoring agreements, ISDA and credit agreements. The 'professional and dedicated' corporate and M&A practice at Simont Braun attracts praise for its 'industry expertise and for building long-term relationships with its clients'. It was recently instructed by the Urban Development Corporate of the Brussels-Capital Region (Société d'Aménagement Urbain) on the creation and implementation of the Contemporary and Modern Art Museum and Architecture Museum in Brussels, including advising on corporate aspects and negotiations relating to partnerships with Centre Pompidou in Paris. In another work highlight, a team led by Vanessa Marquette is assisting Vivaqua and Hydrobru with the proposed merger of the two main operators in the water sector, including successfully representing the companies in a judicial proceeding opposing the transaction. Sandrine Hirsch heads up the team, which also includes the well-regarded Paul Alain Foriers.
