Between 2005 and 2007 he practiced law as a free professional. He was an associate of the firm «Gonçalves Pereira, Castelo Branco e Associados», from 2003 to 2005.

He concluded his PhD in Civil Law in 2015, and a Master’s in Law, with a specialisation in Corporate Law, in 2007, from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon; obtained a graduate qualification in EU Law from King’s College London, in 2012, and in Tax Management of Organisations, from the School of Economics and Management (ISEG - Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão), in 2002.

Notable work included assisting Banif with the sale of several Brazilian-based assets in the context of the restructuring of subsidiary BanifBrasil, a matter led by Manuel Magalhães; he co-heads the department with Paulo Câmara, who is frequently singled out.
