Mariya Derelieva is a Senior Associate at Georgiev, Todorov & Co. law firm. Before joining the firm, she worked as legal expert with the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) and with the Ministry of Finance where she gained specific experience in energy regulatory matters and in litigation. In particular, as legal expert with the EWRC Mariya participated in the implementation of the European Union's Third Energy Package in the Bulgarian legislation and as legal counsel at the Ministry of Finance she participated in the preparation of the State’s position in international arbitration cases initiated under the Energy Charter.

Her main areas of expertise includes dispute resolution, both domestic and international arbitration proceedings, appeals of administrative acts, corporate and commercial law, energy law and health care law.  At the firm Mariya advises clients on corporate and regulatory matters and as litigator represents clients in commercial and administrative cases.

Mariya provides day-to-day legal consultancy as well as legal representation to major power plants such as TEC Bobov dol and Brikel, as well as to heating cogeneration plants in major cities such as Toplofikatcia Burgas, Toplofikatcia Ruse, Toplofikatcia Sliven, Toplofikatcia Pernik and Toplofikatcia Pleven. Mariya has provided legal consultancy to Dalkia SA, France for the incorporation of their Bulgarian subsidiary.  

As litigator Mariya provides representation in court proceedings to other major clients such as Port of Burgas EAD, Vrana EAD, Sofia Municipality, the Bulgarian National Bank, Agromill Bulgaria AD and Proshek Immobilien. As consultant Mariya advices on daily basis regarding corporate matters Evros Kip – leading distributor for cosmetics and perfumery on the Bulgarian market, Pasha Global – hotel and gaming management company, Comsed – the largest toy chain store on the Bulgarian market, and the health providers Hill clinic and On clinic.

In a recent highlight, Katzarsky and Arno Mamasyan acted for First Investment Bank in a series of disputes regarding the enforcement of decisions issued against the client by the court of another EU member state, in the territory of Bulgaria, on the basis of bank guarantees. Clients include Port of Burgas, Bulgarian Posts, Vivacom and several hospitals in the City Clinic group.
