The Firm

Pamboridis LLC is a general commercial and corporate law firm with four offices: two in Cyprus (Nicosia and Limassol), one in Greece (Athens) and, most recently, one in the UK (London). The firm is headed by Dr George Pamboridis, who is assisted by a number of partners, senior and junior associates, and paralegals in all three jurisdictions. The firm is made up of a total of 30 fee-earners and employees.

Through its new London office, it aspires to provide legal support and services to the city of London law firms working with or through Cyprus, as well as to facilitate the new businesses and its existing clients in the UK.

The firm’s clients consist of high net-worth individuals, multinational banks, corporations and financial institutions with activities in Cyprus, Greece, South-East Europe, the CIS and the Middle East.

Areas of practice

Corporate and commercial: the firm advises on corporate matters, capital raising, structuring and re-structuring, and public listings. It has extensive experience in negotiating, drafting and concluding complex commercial contracts. The firm’s mergers and acquisitions team advises on the full range of deal structures, ranging from public takeovers/tender offers to divestments, auctions and de-mergers, in Cyprus and abroad.

Oil and gas were recently discovered on the continental shelf of Cyprus. In preparation of this major development, the firm moved proactively and teamed up with one of the biggest global firms in order to provide its clients with expert energy law advice.

Fund structuring: the firm prides itself on its dedicated team of experts in fund structuring and support. It has assisted and supported clients and investors in their efforts to set up, operate, manage and administer funds. The firm provides fiduciary services to all forms of structured funds in jurisdictions such as Cyprus, the Cayman Islands and Singapore.

Tax planning: the firm established a specialised tax planning department in Nicosia, with a strong presence in Athens and London, in response to Cyprus’s status as one of the most reputable low-tax jurisdictions in the EU. The firm advises individuals and corporations on international tax planning and has an extensive network of high-quality affiliates in most reputable low-tax jurisdictions, including Malta, Luxembourg, Ireland, the Cayman Islands, Panama and the BVI.

Competition: the firm advises clients on national merger control law and regulation, and conducts antitrust audits. It also provides advice on compliance with distribution agreements, joint venture agreements and other forms of contractual agreement.

International shipping: the firm’s maritime practice has a long history of representing major shipping multinationals. It provides regional and international support to ship owners, cargo interests, insurers and P&I clubs, as well as bankers dealing with the shipping industry. It also provides ship registration services and flagging advice, and engages in all aspects of S&P, including related financial matters.

Litigation: the firm specialises in commercial litigation but also handles banking and finance disputes, debt collection, family law matters, personal injury claims, property disputes, cases relating to hire purchase agreements, and bankruptcy and insolvency. The department also conducts domestic and international arbitrations, mediations and other forms of ADR.

Banking and finance: the firm advises arranging banks, lenders, credit institutions, sponsors and borrowers on international financing transactions across a wide range of businesses in the commercial, financial and governmental sectors.

Labour: the firm deals with employment matters such as lawsuits for the claim of due payments, compensation for unfair dismissal and the drafting of collective agreements. It also has extensive expertise in TUPE matters.
