Position
Founding partner. Has acted in leading patent, design and trademark matters in the UK and European Court of Justice. Broad intellectual property practice, predominantly a litigator, advising on all aspects of enforcement strategy, infringement and validity issues, and conducting legal proceedings or alternative dispute resolution for all IP rights (patents, trade marks, passing off, designs, copyright, trade secrets, confidential information) and related competition issues, advertising issues, and contractual matters such as IP licensing disputes, parallel import cases, trade libel and malicious falsehood, anti-counterfeiting matters, domain name recovery. Visiting lecturer: Oxford University post-graduate diploma in IP law and practice (teaching litigation and copyright and designs) and on the Diploma Management Committee for the course. Contributor to Community Designs Handbook (issued jointly by CIPA and ITMA).
Career
Trained Gouldens, qualified 1996; senior assistant in IP group at Gouldens and then Jones Day following its merger with Gouldens in 2003. Founding partner of Redd July 2004 to date.
