Cristian Radu’s practice centres on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate and commercial law, and he is also a gaming law specialist, a niche area of practice in Romania. With significant experience in restructurings and business acquisitions, including cross-border acquisitions, the disposal of non-strategic businesses, divestitures, public offerings, squeeze-out and sell-out procedures and mergers, Cristian has acted on some of Romania’s most popular transactions of recent years as reflected in mass media. He is involved in all aspects of structuring, negotiation and documentation of these transactions. His work also includes providing corporate counselling and strategic advice to clients on disclosure issues, corporate governance practices and compliance with their obligations under Romanian law. Cristian Radu has experience in a variety of industries, including agribusiness, FMCG and the financial sector, and has acted for some of the flagship companies in these fields. More specifically, his oil and gas-related work practice covers the applicable regulations in oil upstream and downstream market, as well as the development of their fuel distribution networks and the structure of the import and transport of petroleum products; drafting and negotiating industry specific contracts (sale and transport of petroleum products agreements, farm in/farm out agreements, joint operations agreements, etc.).

Another area of interest is gambling law, where he provides gaming-related advice to various players in the gaming, betting and lottery industry as regards a wide range of specific regulatory/compliance issues, including on-line and mobile gambling, casinos etc. He frequently reports for international publications such as Gambling Compliance or World Gambling Report.

  • The Dispute Resolution Review Sixth Edition - Romania

    Disputes in Romania are settled in court in the vast majority of cases, under procedures regulated mainly by the new Civil Procedure Code (CPC). The CPC entered into force on 15 February 2013, has carried out a systemic and extensive overhaul of the Romanian dispute resolution model. With a specific focus on acceleration of trial proceedings, the new regulation has reformed both the schedule and the content of proceedings taking place in various phases of the lawsuit, while attempting to clarify many of the controversies raised by interpretable provisions in the former regulation.
