Position

As partner at Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii, Dan Borbely co-heads the firm's Real Estate practice group. He contributed to the development of a unique “one-stop shop” model facilitating access to legal and non legal services for our real estate clients in a timely and efficient manner. He has handled a wide variety of sophisticated transactions covering legal and regulatory issues in purchase and sale, property finance, leasing and concession, property insurance, public and private construction, public works, property development and investment, mortgages and other collaterals, as well as recovery and security enforcement, joint ventures and leasing of all types of properties and especially residential, office and retail projects. Dan Borbely has a broad commercial property background with particular interest in the disposal and acquisition, development agreements and property aspects of corporate related transactions.

Career

Dan Borbely is one of the founding partners of Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii. For the past 12 years, he has advised foreign and Romanian companies for the extension of their activities in Romania, including for internal and international joint venture agreements. Being one of the most experienced real estate lawyers on the Romanian market, Dan was directly involved in some of the largest and most complex real estate transactions including the following ones: coordinator of the legal team assisting Futureal Group in relation to all property management aspects relating to the inauguration of a large-scale shopping center project in Baia-Mare; coordinator of the legal team retained by Rothschild Private Equity Management with a EUR 104,000,000 acquisition of the controlling stake in several residential projects in Bucharest, Braşov and Ploieşti; advising the investment fund Deutsche Gesellschaft für Immobilienfonds mbH (DEGI), part of Aberdeen Property Investors Group, in connection with EUR 150,000,000 transaction for the acquisition of the Iris Shopping Center in Bucharest; advising OMV Group/ Petrom in Central Europe in connection with the sale of 110,000 sqm plot of land located in Băneasa area (Străuleşti) to Raiffeisen Evolution; coordinator of the legal team retained by Futureal Group. He coordinated the legal teams selected by companies and institutions as Voestalpine, CA Immobilien AG, Carrefour, Raptis Kavouras, Irish Holding Group Ltd, Quinn Properties, Texaco Lubricants Romania. Dan is a regular speaker at various real estate conferences and also an author of many articles edited by various local and international publishers.
