The firm

Solola & Akpana was established in 1997 by Tope Solola and Iboroma Akpana and has become a strong leader in its chosen practices (which are split evenly between litigation and transactional matters) and delineated geography.

The firm’s size, resources, geographic breadth, advanced IT and business-oriented culture, which is deeply entrepreneurial, ensure that clients receive responsive, value-added services.

The members of Solola & Akpana are proud of the service they have delivered to clients over the past decade, are proud of the firm they have built, and are excited about the future, a future they intend to secure by keeping their clients at the very centre of their world.

Areas of practice

The firm specialises in providing a wide range of both domestic and international commercial work to its clients, which include oil exploration, production and service companies; telecommunications operators; banks and other financial institutions; governmental agencies; and private individuals. The principal areas of work are listed above with the lawyers to contact.

The firm is particularly active in the oil and gas industry where, as a result of its deep roots in the Niger Delta region and the considerable expertise acquired through previous involvement, it provides representation for most of the leading multinational and indigenous companies in that industry. The firm has also built demonstrable capacity in its Abuja and Lagos offices, which has greatly bolstered its regulatory and transactional practice.

The firm’s commercial litigation and arbitration practice is presently one of Solola & Akpana’s strongest practice groups, a reflection of a results-driven strategy in dispute resolution.

The firm handles real estate and general commercial work, and about 60% of its activity is of a corporate nature, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, corporate financing, banking and investment laws.
