Arnecke Sibeth’s Growth Trajectory Excels

August 2017

Further new faces in the Firm: On August 1, a market recognized Real Estate Tax Team will join Arnecke Sibeth. Future Partner Alexander Lehnen will be joined by two further experts from Crowe Keeberg Real Estate. The new additions were all formerly with Big 4 Accountancies. They will strengthen the Firm’s Real Estate practice, which already includes more than 50 lawyers across all of its locations.

Lehnen and his team of Tax Consultants and Auditors advise a broad spectrum of clients from large institutional investors and specialty funds to medium-sized project developers. In addition to transaction and structure consulting, regulatory considerations in real estate transactions and fund start-ups are also key focus areas.

This alliance aims to provide Real Estate and Finance clients with even more comprehensive support.

Thomas Richter, Managing Partner and one of Arnecke Sibeth’s Real Estate specialists, sees the future benefits: “The addition of Alexander Lehnen, Laura Neugebauer and Marcel Bailänder will allow us to provide even greater coverage of our core real estate practice including complex tax and regulatory law.”

Past cooperation on significant projects has demonstrated this alliance’s potential. Managing Partner Dr. Wolfgang Scholl: “We are delighted, following successful experiences cooperating on earlier projects, to be working under a joint banner”.

Real Estate is not the only area of the firm evidencing growth. Three further high-caliber Partners/Lawyers from other areas of Corporate Finance, Competition Law and IP/IT/Commercial will strengthen Arnecke Siebeth further. Michael Siebold, Managing Partner: “Our goal is to be in a position to provide our clients – large corporations as well as mid-sized organisations – with even broader and deeper Expert-Knowhow, both nationally and internationally. This requires large teams of exceptionally qualified talent, which we are now in a position to supplement with six further lawyers. This fits with the development of our Notary services, comprised of our commercially oriented Partner and Notary Dr. Robert Safran.

  • Priority rental rights in insolvency

Parties to rental contracts for commercial premises often agree priority rental rights. In practice, this concept is used to cover a whole series of legal structures. These range from fixed options for the tenant to a promise made by the landlord as a business policy that if any additional premises become available, they will be offered to the tenant. In 2010 the Berlin Court of Appeal issued a ruling on such priority rental rights in insolvency; the decision has recently been published.
