Natalia Meshcheriakova spoke at the ICC’s Commission on Intellectual Property

13 March 2013 Natalia Meshcheriakova, a Partner and Head of Intellectual Property Department of AstapovLawyers International Law Group, spoke at the ICC’s Commission on Intellectual Property on 6 March in Paris, France. The commission members discussed the 2013 action plan, positive innovation agenda, IP issues on electronic media and networks and IP Roadmap.

Among other topics covered, the IP Commission members discussed trade secrets, access and benefit sharing in relation to genetic resources, protection of traditional knowledge, domain names, patents and standards, copyright issues.

Ms Meshcheriakova updated the colleagues on the IP Committee and BASCAP activities in Ukraine regarding legislative initiatives aimed to prevent unfair registrations of IP objects which hamper normal business activities and introduce responsibility for the abuse of IP rights. Ms Meshcheriakova also reported on adoption of Fair Practices Rules for use of IP rights which have recently been developed.
