AstapovLawyers International Law Group welcomes a new partner Natalia Meshcheriakova and a team of four professionals to boost Intellectual Property practice. Previously Ms Meshcheriakova and the joining team were part of DD&I IP, the first Ukrainian firm specializing in IP Due Diligence. Natalia Meshcheriakova, former Senior Partner of DD&I IP, will lead the department as Head of IP with a team of lawyers, IP experts, analysts, economists and appraisers.

The new IP Department will advise on a wide range of topics including trademark rights, brand names, protection of know-how, laws relating to designs, databanks, patents, software, copyrights, unfair competition, related rights and IP litigation. Particular attention will be paid to all matters related to Intellectual Property, media, merchandising and advertising, film (financing) and the music industry, as well as advise on legal questions surrounding the internet, IT and software development.

Natalia Meshcheriakova
, the newly appointed Head of Intellectual Property Department of AstapovLawyers, has 7 years of experience in IP. She is a court accredited intellectual property expert with the right to conduct examinations of literary and artistic works, industrial design, commercial (brand) name, trademarks and geographical indications. Ms Meshcheriakova is also a certified appraiser of integral property complexes, shares, securities, property rights and intangible assets and rights to intellectual property.

Prior to joining AstapovLawyers Ms Meshcheriakova held the position of a Senior Partner with the Ukrainian DD&I IP Agency. She was also Managing Partner of Expert Bureau on Intellectual Property, and worked as Deputy Director of expertise and research at the Research Center of Forensic Expertise on Intellectual Property (Ministry of Justice of Ukraine).

Ms Meshcheriakova holds a degree in philology from Melitopol State Pedagogical University (Ukraine), a degree summa cum laude in law from National University of Internal Affairs (Ukraine), and a degree in intellectual property from the Institute of Intellectual Property (Ukraine).

For the second year in a row Natalia heads the Committee on Intellectual Property and Advertising Law of the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Commission on Intellectual Property at Ukrainian National Committee of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine). Since 2010, Natalia is also working on promoting the BASCAP initiative of ICC in Ukraine as the senior coordinator.
