September 2012

AstapovLawyers International Law Group will support the all-Ukrainian fencing tour in Kyiv and other Ukrainian regional centers. A series of workshops with Olympic champions and World and European championships’ prizewinners will start in Kyiv on September 8th.

Sport galas will also be held in Odessa, Lviv, Nikolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya and Uzhgorod. The first performance of the fencing team is hosted by the 40-sports Olympic class organized by the National Olympic Committee on Khreshchatyk on September 8th. Anyone willing to improve his or her skills will be able to participate in the show. Beginners will have a chance to get some advice from the acclaimed coaches.

Similar workshops will be performed at the same day in Odessa and Nikolaiv by Olympic fencing champions and the World and European championships’ prizewinners. The all-Ukrainian tour will last for half a month and will end on October 14th with “Zaporizhska sich” tournament.

«Olga Harlan's gold Olympic medal inspired us and the whole country. It made us believe all over again that persistency, hard work combined with natural talent can do wonders. That is why we rushed to support the all-Ukrainian fencing tour. We want to see the rise of new stars», - said Andrey Astapov, Managing Partner with AstapovLawyers.

The fencing tour is a part of a complex program that consists of 3 aspects: encouraging children to start fencing courses, promoting workshops and performances and advertising different fencing activities.

«The success of our fencing team at the London Olympics persuaded us to take it much further. We hope that the fencing tour will make people understand that doing sports is much more than just sport. It trains your mind and body. It shapes your character», - commented Stanislav Mishchenko, the FFU's President.

  • How much does it cost to use “proprietary” TM?

For many international companies, it is a common practice to allow the use of their trademarks (TM) to all group companies on a free of charge basis. Some parent companies do not even have a right to charge the royalty payments from their subsidiaries, as this contradicts the company’s policy. In the case of subsidiaries located in the territory of Ukraine, such a situation suits everyone, at first glance, because royalties do not have to be paid at all.
