AstapovLawyers welcomes a new Partner

Oleh Beketov joined AstapovLawyers International Law Group in 2009. Mr. Beketov has worked for Ukrainian law firm Magisters, was interned for US law firm Alston & Bird; held the position of lawyer with Pavlenko, Statsenko & Osinchuk.

Also Mr Beketov held the position of assistant to the Chair of the Committee of Parliament of Ukraine on Legal Policy where he gained rich practical experience in harmonisation of Ukrainian legislation to EU legislation. He was brought on board by AstapovLawyers to initially focus on International commercial arbitration and litigation, commercial and civil litigation, Trade law, Corporate law, and Foreign investments.

Mr. Beketov graduated from Lviv National University, School of Law, Ukraine and holds LL.M degree from the American University, Washington College of Law, Washington D.C., USA. He was named among top 50 lawyers of Ukraine according to annual ranking “Choice of the Client” published by Yuridicheskaya Gazeta (а Ukrainian national circulation legal newspaper). Oleh is a member of Ukrainian Association of International Law, Ukrainian Bar Association and is a Co-chair of Ukrainian Chapter of New York Bar Association (NYSBA).

Oleh has over 10 years of substantial professional experience in mediation, local and international litigation as well as international and commercial arbitration. He has been representing major Ukrainian, Russian, US and EU clients in multi-million disputes taking place in Ukraine, Russia and other countries. Amount top-clients for whom Mr. Beketov worked for are: Energoatom, UKSATSE, DEMZ, Delta Bank, Universal Bank, A1, Alfa Bank, Mechel, Dogus, Dymov, OBI, Razgulay Group, Pirelli, Ancile Investment Fund, Avery Dennison, Nutritek, Soyuz-Victan, Efko, Ducrua Delcredere, Glencore, Bunge, Metal Invest.

    In the first half of 2019 alone, renewable energy facilities with a capacity of more than 1.5 GW were connected to the Ukrainian grid, with about 96% of those being solar and wind energy facilities. In the whole of 2018, which has been a record-breaking year so far, numbers were almost half as high. The Ukrainian market also remains very attractive to foreign investors, not least because of the lucrative feed-in tariff rates, which are paid out regularly. Now, after the adoption of the so-called law on green auctions, significant changes can be expected.
