AstapovLawyers expands debt restructuring practiсe

Tatyana Kuzmenko, Partner at AstapovLawyers International Law Group, participated in an international conference "Regulation of Insolvency Practitioners: Achievements and Developments". The event, held in Kyiv, was organized by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the International Finance Corporation.

The conference gathered insolvency practitioners from all over the world and presented examples of regulations of insolvency practice in countries like the Russian Federation, Serbia, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, etc. The conference was attended by Mr. Serhiy Tigipko, the Vice-Prime-Minister, the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine who spoke of the necessity to improve the investment climate in Ukraine and highly commended IFC’s work and contribution to the regulatory reform process in the country.

Guests discussed aspects of the organization of court-appointed trustees’ professional occupation, the requirements for their qualifications and training, the impact of bankruptcy legislation reform on judicial practice, as well as the international practice of the arbitration managers institution.

Tatyana Kuzmenko commented the importance of debt restructuring practice: "The financial crisis has become a real stress test for the global and domestic businesses. Over the past four years the number of official bankruptcies in Ukraine more than doubled in comparison to pre-crisis period. In these situation creditors as well as debtors requires for high-qualified legal retainer. We support our clients through all stages of the restructuring process protecting them from possible risks. "
