September 2011

International law group AstapovLawyers is proud to announce that for the second year in a row the company has been recognized as “Law firm of the year in dispute resolution in Ukraine” according to Corporate International Magazine 2011 Global Award (UK).

The 2011 Awards have commemorated those who have been active over the past 12 months and who have shown excellence not only in expertise but in service as well.

The editors have undertaken detailed research in all categories and following that research create a shortlist of firms that are experts in their chosen specialisms.

The firms that have been shortlisted were researched by the independent team looking at service range, business type, geographical location, how the business operates and the expertise each team can offer to companies that either trade or may want to trade in their chosen jurisdiction.

“Dispute resolution practice is one of the leading in our firm and we certainly are one of the Top players in Ukraine by the amount of disputes as well as the arbitration and litigation proceedings that we carry out. It’s a well-deserved appraisal for the industry, professionalism and corporate conduct of our arbitration team. However, we won’t stop with what has already been achieved and continue our development in line with the best international standards”, - emphasized Andrey Astapov, Managing Partner at AstapovLawyers International Law Group.

  • How much does it cost to use “proprietary” TM?

For many international companies, it is a common practice to allow the use of their trademarks (TM) to all group companies on a free of charge basis. Some parent companies do not even have a right to charge the royalty payments from their subsidiaries, as this contradicts the company’s policy. In the case of subsidiaries located in the territory of Ukraine, such a situation suits everyone, at first glance, because royalties do not have to be paid at all.
