Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia is the chairman of ENSafrica | Ghana. He specialises in a number of areas of law, including banking and corporate finance, employment, mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas, corporate commercial, and corporate governance.

He has advised local and international clients in a number of industries, including the petroleum, telecommunications, insurance, and food and beverage industries.

Elikem’s experience includes advising clients on various aspects of business mergers and acquisitions, as well as negotiating and drafting commercial finance agreements in a range of industries.

He is the author of Kuenyehia on Entrepreneurship, the first Ghanaian textbook on entrepreneurship.

In 2012, Elikem was named by Forbes and CNBC as “West Africa Young Business Leader of the Year” and named one of Africa's next generation leaders by the African Leadership Network.

 In 2010, he was named a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum, as well as one of “Africa’s 40 under 40 Achievers” by The Network Journal. He also received the Millennium Excellence Awards' Young Professional of the Year Award in 2006.

Banking and finance

ENSafrica continues to act on major deals for financial institutions and bilateral agencies, with niche expertise in agricultural financing. It advised the joint bookrunners on the issuance of a series of bonds by the government of Ghana under its GHS2bn long-term domestic bond programme. The practice has been advising the African Development Bank on various matters, including providing it with a legal opinion for a $15m facility to uniBank Ghana. Capital markets

ENSafrica acts for several prominent domestic and foreign issuers and underwriters, and benefits from a solid relationship with a number of major international law firms. In a significant deal, it acted as local counsel to the joint lead managers – Barclays, Deutsche Bank AG (London branch) and Standard Chartered – on the review of transaction documents, and provided a legal opinion on the government of Ghana’s capacity to issue the bonds. ENSafrica is consistently involved in the most complex and high-profile transactions in Ghana, with particular experience in direct foreign investment. The large team works regularly with major international law firms and acts for global entities such as Citibank, multilateral agencies such as African Development Bank, and other significant companies, such as Chase Petroleum Ghana. It advised TMM Group on the review of an important shareholders’ agreement, and assisted Panafrican Mining Services (Ghana) with all aspects of a substantial equipment sale agreement. ENSafrica advises across the entire oil and gas value chain and has also been active advising on power production and project financing. The team advised Barak Fund on various banking documents for a $15m revolving loan relating to the purchase of commodities for the production of energy.
