Penkov, Markov and Partners Attorneys at Law attend energy forum in Serbia

Penkov, Markov and Partners Attorneys at Law received a special invitation to participate in a forum entitled "New Opportunities for Investment in Energy and Infrastructure Projects in the Republic of Serbia" in Belgrade on February 3, 2011.

Attorneys Roman Stoyanov and Nikolai Tsvetanov of our energy law team took active part in the discussions and the presentations, including a presentation they gave on the Bulgarian energy policy and the key advantages offered by a new bill on renewable and alternative energy sources and bio-fuels.

Even though the forum was entitled "New Opportunities for Investment in Energy and Infrastructure Projects in the Republic of Serbia", the discussions focused on the development of the Balkans as a whole.

Among the presenters at the forum was Prof. Dr. Nikola Rajakovic, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia. He presented interesting statistics on the development of the energy market in Serbia and information about some of the large infrastructure projects in his country, which are connected with the development of the energy sector and infrastructure across the Balkan Peninsula.

Among the issues on the agenda of the forum was the completion of Pan-European Corridor VIII which has a huge significance for the development of the region.

Among the experts at the discussion were representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, the Austria-Israel Chamber of Commerce, the Austrian Embassy in the Republic of Serbia, representatives of the banking sector, experts of leading Serbian and Balkan law firms and business people from Austria and the Balkan countries.
