Position

Neil handles a broad range of company and commercial matters ranging from start-up businesses to providing legal support and corporate governance advice to small and medium-sized businesses, blue-chip clients, investors and financial institutions. He actively seeks to obtain a detailed knowledge and understanding of each client’s business and its specific needs and requirements. This enables him to assist at all stages of the business life cycle, from inception, through growth to ultimate realisation of value on exit. He has also developed a reputation for pragmatic advice and solutions to problem areas. While advising in all business areas and sectors, Neil has particular expertise and knowledge within the recruitment, manufacturing, engineering and logistics sectors, as well as extensive experience in public procurement and tendering.

Career

Trained Batcheldors, qualified 1995, partner 1997; set up Woodfines’ Milton Keynes office in 2001.

Bedford School; University College, London (1992, LLB Hons); Chester (1993, Law Society finals).

Leisure

Neil spends his spare time chasing around after his young family and escaping to the kitchen to dabble with cooking.

Highlights included advising Fire Protection Services on a purchase and sale agreement for part if its business, and acting for Philex with an acquisition project. Woodfines LLP acts for lenders on high-value property transactions, and also advises on the development of residential and commercial property, site assembly, planning promotion agreements, waste management and construction matters. The team was recently bolstered with the arrival of Michael Roche, who specialises in commercial property transactions, from Breeze and Wyles Solicitors Limited. Other key figures include practice head Sylvia Goulding, who has a specialism in licensed premises and planning promotion agreements; James Cardwell, who is known for his expertise across the full range of development work; and Neil Gibbs, who handles environment-related work. Highlights included advising Parrott Development on the £5m sale of a large development site to a housing association.
