The group won a significant victory for Jazztel, BSkyB and others in claims for restitution against HMRC arising out of a change to SDRT and stamp duty, recovering significant sums of tax.

It regularly handles complex immigration compliance matters for both corporate and private clients, and is adept at co-ordinating emergency business evacuations and business continuity advice. The team also has close links with key government organisations and is engaged in high-level consultations with government on immigration policy changes; the ‚Äėexcellent‚Äô Andrea Als¬†is the government liaison head, while practice head Julia Onslow-Cole, who is described as ‚Äėthe immigration lawyer‚Äôs immigration lawyer‚Äô, was appointed to the Home Office EU Immigration Employers' Representative Group to represent employers in relation to immigration and the position of EU citizens‚Äô pre and post Brexit. With 'a growing presence in the pensions space', PwC LLP 'is not only increasing in depth but is demonstrating innovative ways of assisting clients' across pensions indexation, bulk annuity transactions, VAT issues and fiduciary management agreements. Oliver Reece heads up the group, which was recently bolstered by the recruitment of Marcus Fink from Ashurst.
